Conquer the "Cal Salmon"—The Pinnacle of West Coast Class V Whitewater.

The California Salmon River (the "Cal Salmon") is widely considered one of the best high-volume Class V runs in the world. This isn't just a rafting trip; it's a rite of passage. Dropping through a remote alpine gorge between the Trinity Alps and the Marble Mountains, you'll experience 10 miles of relentless, crystal-clear whitewater that will keep your heart rate elevated from put-in to take-out.
Our journey begins at the Nordheimer Campground, immediately plunging into continuous Class IV and V rapids. The climax of the trip is the legendary Freight Train rapid—a massive, technical whitewater staircase that requires precision and teamwork. After navigating the "gnarliest" sections, the pace slows just enough for you to marvel at the lush, temperate rainforest of Northern California.
Season (April – June): This is a free-flowing, wild and scenic river. The window is short and dictated by snowmelt.
The Location: We meet at Somes Bar or Nordheimer Campground. While remote, it is a scenic 3-hour drive from Medford, OR or Redding, CA.
The Experience: Includes all technical river gear, expert Class V guides, and a riverside lunch to refuel after the morning's adrenaline.
Because this river is flow-dependent and highly specialized, dates fill up fast.
Requirement: Previous Class IV rafting experience strongly recommended. All paddlers must be in good physical condition and ready to paddle hard!
